Effect of mixed addition of flaxseed oil and palm oil in the diet on rumen fatty acid composition of cashmere goats

Abstract
The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with flaxseed oil and palm oil on the rumen fatty acid composition in cashmere goats.The in-vitro experiment employed a completely randomized single-factor design,and were randomly divided into three groups,flaxseed oil group,palm oil group and mixed oil group(palm oil∶flaxseed oil=4∶6),with six replicates in each group.After 24 hours of in vitro fermentation,the culture medium was collected for fatty acid composition analysis.The in vivo experiment utilized a 3 × 3 Latin square design with replication.Twelve cashmere goats were divided into three groups with four replicates in each group,and one goat in each replicate.The diets of the three groups were supplemented with flaxseed oil,palm oil,and mixed oil(palm oil∶flaxseed oil=4∶6),respectively.The trial was divided into three phases,each of 28 days,including a pre-test period of seven days and a formal test period of 21 days.Rumen fluid samples were collected at 0 and 6 hours after morning feeding.The results showed that in vitro experiment,the concentrations of α-linolenic acid(C18∶3n-3)and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid(n-3 PUFA)in the mixed oil group were not significantly different from that in the flaxseed oil group(P>0.05),while the concentrations of C18∶3n-3 and n-3 PUFA in the palm oil group were significantly lower than that in the flaxseed oil group(P<0.05).The content of n-3 PUFA in the mixed oil group was higher than that in the palm oil group(P>0.05).In vivo experiment,the concentrations of C18∶3n-3 and n-3 PUFA in the mixed oil group and the flaxseed oil group were significantly higher than those in the palm oil group(P<0.05).The content of C18∶3n-3 in the mixed oil group was significantly lower than that in the flaxseed oil group(P<0.05),while the content of n-3 PUFA in the mixed oil group was not significantly different from that in the flaxseed oil group(P>0.05).The study indicates that adding mixed oil in the diet is better than adding single oil in improving the composition of C18∶3n-3 and n-3 PUFA in rumen fluid.关键词
