Effects of Periplaneta americana residue replacing soybean meal on growth performance,meat quality,and immune function of Sanhuang chickens

Abstract
The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of Periplaneta americana residue replacing soybean meal on the growth performance,meat quality,and immune function of Sanhuang chickens.A total of 240 healthy Sanhuang chickens at 14 days of age were randomly divided into three groups,with five replicates per group,each replicate containing 16 chickens.The control group(Group A)was fed a basal diet,while Groups B and C had Periplaneta americana residue replacing 25%and 50%of the soybean meal in the basic diet,respectively.The trial period was 42 days.The results showed that the average daily feed intake of Groups B and C was extremely higher than that of Group A(P<0.01).The average daily gain of Group B was extremely higher than that of group A(P<0.01),and the average daily gain of Group C was significantly lower than that of Group A(P<0.05).The final weight of Group B was extremely higher than that in Groups A and C(P<0.01).The pH24h value of muscle in Group C was extremely lower than that in Groups A and B(P<0.01).The C20∶2 concentrations in Group B was significantly higher than that in Groups A and C(P<0.05),and the muscle C20∶3n6 concentration in Groups B and C was significantly higher than that in group A(P<0.05).The serum immunoglobulin G(IgG)and immunoglobulin M(IgM)concentrations in Group B were extremely higher than those in other groups(P<0.0l),and the serum immunoglobulin A(IgA)concentrations in Groups B and C were significantly higher than those in Group A(P<0.05).The study indicates that using Periplaneta americana residue instead of soybean meal can improve the growth performance,immune function,and meat quality of Sanhuang chickens,with a 25%substitution ratio showing the better results.关键词
