Abstract

To address the separation of the isobutanol(IBA)-isobutyl acetate(IBAc)azeotrope in the synthesis of IBAC via IBA esterification,N,N-dimethylacetamide was used as an extractant,and the separation of the IBA-IBAc azeotrope was simulated by means of Aspen Plus simulation software using two-and three-tower equivalent models of extractive distillation dividing wall column(EDWC),as well as a conventional extractive distillation model.By taking the lowest total annual cost(TAC)as the objective function,the above model parameters were globally optimized,and the optimal operating parameters for each model were determined under the premise that the molar fraction and recovery rate of IBAC and IBA were not less than 99.3%.The results show that both the two-tower equivalent and three-tower equivalent models of EDWC can be used to simulate the separation of the IBA-IBAc azeotrope.Specifically,the two-tower equivalent model exhibits the lowest energy consumption and TAC.Compared to conventional extractive distillation,this system reduces the TAC by 11.36%,which is more suitable for the separation of the IBA-IBAc azeotrope.
