Evaluation of the Improvement of Complications in Non-invasive Ventilator Therapy in Patients with Emergency Respiratory Failure by Clinical Pathway Nursing

Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical significance of pathway-based clinical intervention measures in patients with acute respiratory failure receiving non-invasive ventilation therapy.Methods A retrospective anal-ysis was conducted on the clinical data of 60 patients with respiratory failure who received non-invasive ventilation treatment at the First Hospital of Hohhot from January 2023 to December 2024.Based on the intervention model,the patients were divided into two groups:the observation group(clinical pathway-based intervention model,n=30)and the control group(conventional intervention model,n=30).Clinical treatment-related indicators,pulmonary function parameters,blood gas parameters,and the occurrence of complications were compared between the two groups.Re-sults The observation group had significantly shorter patient-ventilator synchronization time,mechanical ventilation duration,and hospital stay compared to the control group(P<0.001).The total hospitalization cost was also signifi-cantly lower in the observation group(P=0.038).Before intervention,there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of forced expiratory volume in 1 second(FEV1),forced vital capacity(FVC),FEV1/FVC ratio,6-minute walk test(6MWT),arterial oxygen partial pressure(PaO2),arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure(PaCO2),or oxygen saturation(SaO2)levels(P>0.05).After intervention,both groups showed improvements in FEV1,FVC,FEV1/FVC,6MWT,PaO2,and SaO2,and a reduction in PaCO2 levels.However,the observation group showed sig-nificantly higher levels of FEV1,FVC,FEV1/FVC,6MWT,PaO2,and SaO2 compared to the control group(P<0.05),and significantly lower PaCO2 levels(P<0.05).The overall incidence of complications in the observation group was significantly lower than in the control group(6.67%vs.30.00%,P<0.05).Conclusion Clinical pathway-based intervention measures can effectively improve treatment efficiency,reduce treatment costs,enhance respiratory function and blood gas parameters,and low-er the risk of complications in patients with acute respiratory failure receiving non-invasive ventilation therapy.
