摘要

Abstract

Megalurothrips usitatus is a key pest in cowpea production in southern China.To determine its color preference and investigate the relationship between its diurnal activity patterns and environmental factors during the peak cowpea flowering stage,field experiments were conducted in Hainan using eight colors of sticky traps and 64 custom-made color cards.The influence of trap orientation,hanging height,and trap size on the attractiveness to M.usitatus was also evaluated.The results showed that pink sticky trap and color swatch no.60(RGB:255,160,255)had the highest attractiveness.Optimal trapping efficacy was achieved when traps were positioned parallel to cowpea plants at a height of 140 cm and in a 10 cm×10 cm size.Diurnal activity monitoring using the most attractive color trap revealed a unimodal activity pattern during the winter in Sanya,Hainan,with peak activity occurring between 10:00 and 12:00.Environmental correlation analysis indicated that M.usitatus activity was optimal at temperatures between 28 ℃ and 33℃,relative humidity levels of 51.3%to 80.5%,and light intensity ranging from 23 885 to 122 284 lx.These findings provide insights into the pest's behavioral ecology and establish a foundation for the development and implementation of targeted physical control strategies in major cowpea-producing areas of southern China.
