The Impact of Elderly Case Management Based on the Omaha System on Adverse Events in Dementia Patients

Abstract
Objective:To explore the impact of elderly case management based on the Omaha System on the occurrence of adverse events such as falls and pressure ulcers in dementia patients,as well as its effect on improving daily living abilities,quality of life and cognitive function.Method:A total of 60 dementia patients admitted to Longyan Third Hospital from October 2023 to October 2024 were selected.The patients were randomly assigned to two groups,each consisting of 30 individuals.The control group received routine care,while the observation group implemented elderly case management based on the Omaha System.Both groups were evaluated for daily living abilities,quality of life,cognitive function,and the occurrence rate of adverse events before and after the intervention.Result:After 3 months of intervention,the observation group had significantly higher scores in the activity of daily living scale(ADL),quality of life-Alzheimer's disease(QOL-AD),and mini-mental state examination(MMSE)compared to the control group,the incidence of falls,and pressure ulcers was lower in the observation group compared to the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Omaha System-based geriatric case management can significantly improve the activities of daily living,quality of life,and cognitive function of dementia patients,while reducing the incidence of adverse events such as falls and pressure ulcers.This intervention strategy provides an effective management model for improving the quality of life and reducing complications in dementia patients.关键词
