As the"Medium"of Cultural Continuity:On Wen Yiduo's Portrayal of the Qu Yuan During the Anti-Japanese War

Abstract
During the Anti-Japanese War,the image of Qu Yuan underwent multidimensional historical reconstruction and layered signification.Wen Yiduo,as a"cultural nationalist of Chinese civilization",consistently positioned"Qu Yuan"in his writings as a"medium"for the perpetuation of Chinese culture.From historical authenticity to cultural symbolism,and from literary archetype to a spiritual totem of national ethos,the evolution of Qu Yuan's image in Wen Yiduo's portrayals reveals a tripartite framework:"historical demystification—personality reconstruction—aesthetic sublimation."Each layer of reconstruction carried the cultural demands and ideological projections of its era,fundamentally reflecting an interactive process among historical truth,cultural imagination,and ideology.From debates over textual research to the elevation as a spiritual totem,and from classical literary canons to modern theatrical adaptations,Qu Yuan's image has been continually imbued with new meanings.This not only demonstrates the self-renewing capacity of Chinese culture but also unveils the complex tensions inherent in the modern transformation of traditional culture.关键词
