Abstract
The performance of zinc oxide varistors will gradually deteriorate under repeated overvoltages,which may ultimately lead to short circuits,fires,or explosions.It is urgent to conduct in-depth re-search on their impulse aging characteristics and failure mechanisms.An experimental platform for re-peated impulse current testing of ZnO varistors is established to investigate the degradation characteristics of ZnO resistors in terms of varistor voltage,impulse residual voltage and leakage current.The results show that the impulse aging life decreases significantly with the increase of impulse density,which is due to the increase of microscopic defects caused by the size effect of the resistor sheet.In addition,the im-pulse intervalunder different current amplitude conditions also has a significant effect on the aging process,and longer impulse interval mitigates the damage of grain and grain boundary structure from pro-longing the impulse life.The research provides theoretical support and experimental basis for the formula-tion optimization,manufacturing process improvement and performance enhancement of varistors.关键词
