Abstract

As low Earth orbit(LEO)satellite networks continue to carry an increasing volume of traffic,existing routing strategies are gradually unable to meet the network performance requirements under high load conditions.To address this issue,a regional-traffic-load-detour load balancing routing(RTLBR)algorithm for LEO satellite networks is proposed to enhance network performance in high load situations.Firstly,by introducing the concept of regional traffic load,the algorithm controls the data transfer probability on a hop-by-hop basis during path pre-computation according to the overall load situation of the region.Secondly,in the actual transmission process,a traffic light strategy is employed to assess the real-time load situation of specific links,and the detour proportion is adjusted according to the traffic light color,further enhancing the algorithm̓s ability to respond to sudden congestion.Finally,through scenario modeling and simulation with Systems Tool Kit(STK),it is found that compared with traditional algorithms,RTLBR not only reduces the packet loss rate and average end-to-end delay to 9.1%and 117.2 ms respectively under high load conditions of 94 Tb/day network traffic,but also improves the traffic distribution index to 0.863.Better load balancing is aehieved,providing technical support for congestion avoidance in low Earth orbit satellite networks under high load conditions.
