Preparation and Properties of Biphenyl-type Liquid Crystal Polyesters Containing Hydroxyl Side Groups

Abstract
Flexible dielectrics with large dielectric constant coupled with low loss are highly pursued in many applications.A thermal conductivity liquid crystal polyester was successfully designed and prepared by biphenyl diols and methylenedisalicylic acid as raw materials,through a"one pot"melt polycondensation method.The polyester structure was characterized by Fourier infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Thermal Weight Loss Analysis were used to characterized the thermal properties.The thermal conductivity was characterized using infrared thermography and hotline method.The results showed that the synthesized polyesters have good thermal conductivity,high dielectric constant,and excellent thermal stability.HPE has a thermal conductivity of 0.214 W/(m·K),which is a 142%improvement over conventional thermoplastics.The dielectric constant and dielectric loss were 5.03 and 0.01,respectively.Furthermore,the T5%,Tmax and residual carbon at 800℃ of HPE were 342.8℃,441.7℃and 17.83%,respectively.This work provides new directions for designing new polymer-based dielectric and functional materials.关键词
