Process mineralogy study and quartz purification potential evaluation of a granitic pegmatite in Henan Province

Abstract
With the lack of crystal resources,the preparation of high-purity quartz sand with non-crystalline quartz minerals as raw materials has become the mainstream,among which granite pegmatite can be used as a high-quality raw material for high-purity quartz sand.In order to explore the potential of preparing high-purity quartz sand from a granite pegmatite in Henan Province,the mineral composition,embedding characteristics and inclusion characteristics of the raw ore were studied by polarizing microscope,X-ray diffractometer and other methods.Based on this,the pur-ification potential was evaluated.The results show that the ore type is muscovite type granite pegmatite,with the main minerals being plagioclase,potassium feldspar,quartz,muscovite,tourmaline,etc.Quartz is mainly produced in agglomerate aggregates,with particle sizes mainly distributed in 0.1-1.0 mm,which meets the requirements of quartz crucibles for product particle size.The contact boundary between quartz and gangue minerals is relatively flat,with simple embedding characteristics and relatively pure particles,containing a small amount of fluid inclusions and solid inclusions.After purification of the sample,high purity quartz sand with SiO2 mass fraction of 99.998 2%can be obtained.关键词
