Abstract

Objective To compare the effectiveness of PBL combined with Flipped Classroom(Flipped Class-room)versus traditional teaching methods in undergraduate clinical medical education through a meta-analysis.Meth-ods Randomized controlled study on the impact of PBL combined with Flipped Classroom on undergraduate clini-cal medical education,published from database inception to May 2024,were systematically retrieved from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure,VIP Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database,China Biology Medi-cine,and Wanfang Med Online.Meta-analysis was per-formed using RevMan 5.3 software.Results A total of 23 studies were included according to the research objectives and methods.The Meta-analysis results showed that in un-dergraduate clinical medical education,the combination of PBL and Flipped Classroom teaching methods could signif-icantly improve teaching outcomes.The theoretical score(MD=6.97,95%CI:4.15-9.79,P<0.001),skill operation score(MD=4.53,95%CI:0.20-8.87,P=0.04),case analysis score(MD=6.71,95%CI:3.57-9.85,P<0.001),learning interest(OR=5.84,95%CI:4.12-8.23,P<0.001),learning initiative(OR=4.68,95%CI:2.96-7.41,P<0.001,prob-lem-solving ability(OR=4.80,95%CI:2.54-9.07,P<0.001),teamwork competency(OR=5.98,95%CI:3.01-11.86,P<0.001)and teaching satisfaction(OR=7.61,95%CI:5.03-11.52,P<0.001)were significantly improved in the combi-nation teaching group.Conclusions Compared with tradi-tional teaching methods,the combination of PBL and Flipped Classroom teaching methods can enhance teaching effectiveness in undergraduate clinical medical education.It is recommended for promotion and application.
