This paper elucidates the epochal significance of introducing and publishing overseas Sinological works.The current landscape presents several critical challenges that require immediate attention.The proposed optimization strategies address these challenges comprehensively.Overseas Sinological works serve as"academic diplomats,"enhancing China's cultural visibility through international readership.Elizabeth J.Perry's Rebels and Revolutionaries in North China,1845-1945 challenges the"conspiracy theory"narrative,presenting a more nuanced view of China's revolutionary history.These works reflect foreign academics' perceptions of China,providing domestic readers with valuable external insights and sparking cultural reflection.Wolfgang Kubin's critique of contemporary Chinese literature,though controversial,prompted renewed attention to the international readability and depth of Chinese literature.Sinologists' diverse cultural backgrounds contribute distinct methodologies.Marcel Granet's sociological analysis of Chinese folklore and Jacques Gernet's longue durée perspective introduced innovative paradigms and analytical tools,including quantitative methods,into Chinese humanities research.As Sinology becomes increasingly decentralized,works such as Mizoguchi Yūzō's Chinese Thought challenge Eurocentrism and help shape China-centered academic narratives.Publication series such as"Overseas China Studies"by Jiangsu People's Publishing House and"World Sinology Essays"by Zhonghua Book Company have released hundreds of titles,including works by prominent Western scholars like Fairbank.Their thematic scope spans from traditional philosophy to contemporary studies on modern China.Works such as Jullien's The Propensity of Things and Kuhn's Soulstealers highlight micro-history,while Lieberthal's Governing China addresses contemporary governance.These works expand disciplinary boundaries,stimulate interdisciplinary research,and introduce novel perspectives to Chinese cultural studies.Popular titles such as Gernet's Daily Life in China and Spence's The Death of Woman Wang reach wider audiences thanks to accessible writing and packaging strategies.Overemphasis on EuroAmerican scholarship and traditional topics neglects perspectives from other regions and fields such as sociology or economics.The shortage of culturally literate translators,absence of standardized practices,and substantial costs result in inconsistent quality and long publication cycles.Reliance on academic venues excludes general audiences.Ineffective bookstore placement and limited digital adaptation hinder broader outreach.Complicated rights negotiations,high costs,and copyright infringement impede the timely introduction of high-quality works.Recommendations include establishing translation funds for underrepresented regions and topics,promoting works on contemporary China and interdisciplinary themes,and implementing a collaborative scholar-publisher review system.Additional measures include developing professional translation resources and implementing tiered peer review processes.Recognition systems for outstanding translations and regulation of substandard work should be established.Academic and public outreach should be differentiated,utilizing seminars,databases,and social media with tailored content to bridge knowledge gaps.Streamlined licensing procedures,support for professional copyright agents,and enhanced legal protection of intellectual property are essential.关键词
