Evaluation of TBM Tunneling Risks and Pre-reinforcement Results in Fault Zones Based on Finite Element Simulation

Abstract
Based on the geological construction conditions of a TBM tunnel under construction in Shenzhen,the nu-merical simulation was carried out to evaluate the possible original risk of TBM tunneling in the fracture zone.Com-bined with the numerical simulation results and construction monitoring results,the effectiveness of pre reinforce-ment measures of ground grouting was evaluated.The simulation results show that the mechanical response of sur-rounding rock in the fault zone to tunnel construction is significant,showing the characteristics of large floor heave and vault settlement without pre reinforcement measures.Significant stress concentration distribution and large de-formation can be seen at the interface between the fault zone and the surrounding slightly weathered granite.It is considered that the lithological abrupt interface between the fault zone and the complete rock mass is a typical weak surface in tunneling construction.After pre reinforcement,the overall deformation of the surrounding rock area of the tunnel is significantly reduced,which is consistent with the actual construction observation results.The monitor-ing data analysis shows that the water inflow of the tunnel in the reinforcement area is significantly lower than that in other sections,which verifies that the reinforcement measures have good water stop and reinforcement effect on the surrounding rock in the fracture zone with strong adaptability under such conditions.关键词
