Abstract
The policy of new energy demonstration cities is an important measure for China to face re-source and environmental problems and achieve high-quality development.Under the dual test of ecological and economic benefits,panel data of 278 prefecture-level cities in China from 2009 to 2023 were selected,and the difference-in-differences method was used to study how the policy promotes industrial structure up-grading.It is found that the policy of new energy demonstration cities significantly promotes the upgrading of in-dustrial structure,and the result is still true after the robustness test.The mediating effect analysis shows that the new energy demonstration city policy promotes the industrial structure upgrading of pilot cities through green technology innovation and environmental regulation.The heterogeneity analysis shows that the policy effect of new energy demonstration city policies on industrial structure is more obvious in central China and re-source-based cities.Finally,it is proposed to expand the pilot scope of new energy demonstration cities,im-prove the intensity of environmental regulations,and formulate differentiated policies based on the specific con-ditions of the pilot cities.关键词
