Abstract

Based on the practice of full-line water replenishment for the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal from 2022 to 2023,this study compares and analyzes the changes in groundwater levels before and after water replenishment in the South Canal section,as well as the corresponding changes during the same period in 2022.After the 2023 water replenishment,the shallow groundwater level changes within a 10 km range around the canal were better than those in 2022.In the short term,the closer to the canal,the more significant the recharge effect.Over time,the moisture gradually diffused to areas 5-10 km away from the canal.After two consecutive years of water replenishment,the shallow groundwater depth in the Cangzhou-Hengshui funnel area rose significantly.In the South Canal receiving area,the overall groundwater level decreased but showed an increase compared to the same period in 2022.The changes in deep groundwater levels were more pronounced,with the most significant drop observed in the northwestern part of Hengshui City.
