Abstract

To accurately understand the sucrose variation patterns of different sugarcane cultivars at different planting times and their response to meteorological factors,providing a reference for cultivar improvement and harvest scheduling in the sugarcane-growing regions,this study analyzed sugarcane sucrose content measurement data,cultivar data,and concurrent meteorological data from four consecutive of 2021/22~2024/25 crushing seasons in Yizhou sugarcane region of Guangxi.The results indicated that:①The sucrose content of sugarcane during the crushing season,ranked in descending order,was as follows:Guitang42,Guitang44,and Guiliu05136,all with weighted average values exceeding 15%.Guiliu031137 exhibited the lowest value at 14.08%.②For the same cultivar,sucrose content was generally higher in ratoon cane than in plant cane.The temporal trends of sucrose content were broadly consistent across different cultivars,with the maximum values for all occurring around mid-December or mid-January of the following year.③Air temperature is the most influential meteorological factor that affecting sugarcane sucrose content in the Yizhou region.Sucrose accumulation in the early crushing period was primarily affected by the diurnal temperature range(DTR),while sucrose loss(sucrose decline)in the mid-to-late crushing period was mainly influenced by the minimum temperature.④Sucrose content for different cultivars and planting times showed significant correlations with specific meteorological factors,including DTR and DTR anomaly,mean temperature and mean temperature anomaly,maximum and minimum temperatures,precipitation anomaly,and daily mean sunshine duration and sunshine duration anomaly.However,cultivar differences were observed in these relationships.This research offers a scientific basis for production decisions regarding cultivar adjustment,introduction,and precise harvest scheduling in the Yizhou sugarcane-growing region.
