Arbor Tree Species Diversity and Spatial Distribution Patterns in a Hectare-Scale Plot of Lowland Rainforest in Diaoluo Mountain,Hainan Island

Abstract
Lowland rainforest community is an important component of tropical forest types in China.An in-depth exploration of the diversity characteristics and spatial distribution patterns of tree species in lowland rainforests is of great significance for the ecological conservation of lowland rainforests in Hainan.Based on tree species inventory data from a 1-hectare dynamic monitoring plot established in the lowland rainforest of Diaoluo Mountain,Hainan,this study conducts an in-depth analysis of the community's compositional structure,diversity characteristics,spatial distribution patterns of dominant species,and interspecific relationships among tree species.The results show that(1)In the 1 hm² dynamic monitoring plot,there are 2 074 arbor trees with a diameter at breast height above 3 cm,encompassing 152 species,106 genera,and 43 families.(2)The dominant species(with individual counts>60)primarily include Syzygium levinei(198 plants),Garcinia oblongifolia(142 plants),Schima superba(114 plants),and Croton laevigatus(113 plants);there are 50 rare species(1 plant each),accounting for 32.89%of the total species number.(3)The diameter class distribution of the 7 dominant tree species populations is an inverted"J"shape,indicating a high portion of young individuals,easy population renewal,and that these populations are currently in a growth stage with a favorable development trend in the future.(4)The spatial distribution patterns of dominant species exhibit diversity.Gonocaryum lobbianum and Cinnamomum burmanni show a random distribution,whereas Croton laevigatus is mainly distributed in clusters.Other dominant species mainly display a combination of clumped and random distributions.(5)Overall,among the eight dominant species,the number of negative correlation species pairs and uncorrelated species pairs exceeds that of positive correlation species pairs.At the 0-20m scale,Gonocaryum lobbianum exhibits no significant correlation with multiple tree species,while Syzygium levinei shows negative correlations with Croton laevigatus and Castanopsis hainanensis.Based on tree species inventory results from hectare-scale plots,the lowland rainforest community in Diaoluo Mountain,Hainan is in an unstable stage,with intense interspecific competition and strong exclusion competition.During the process of community succession,dominant species are expected to undergo frequent replacement.This study provides a fundamental basis for protecting the biodiversity of lowland rainforests in Hainan and making ecological management decisions.关键词
