Abstract

To investigate the prevalence of yak Piroplasmosis in Nakchu,Xizang,214 serum samples were randomly collected from yaks in Nyerong County and Chali County of Nakchu City.The ELISA double antibody sandwich method was employed to detect serum antibodies a-gainst Piroplasmosis,followed by statistical analysis of seropositivity rates of yaks across different regions,genders,and age groups.Results revealed an overall seropositivity rate of yaks from the two counties in Nakchu city was 35.98%.Specifically,Nyerong County showed a 42.11%seropositivity rate,while Chali County had 29.00%,indicating a statistically significant difference between the two regions(p<0.05).The seropositivity rates for male and female yaks were 35.39%and 36.61%,respectively.Among age groups,the seropositivity rates of yaks under 3 years,3-6 years,and over 6 years were 30.40%,43.24%,and 46.64%,respectively.No significant differences were observed between different genders or age groups(p>0.05).These findings demonstrate the presence of Piroplasmosis pathogens in Nakchu's yak population.Considering the widespread distribution of ticks,the primary vector for Piroplasmosis,in Xizang and the disease's prevalence in neighboring provinces,there may be potential epidemic risks for yak Piroplasmosis in Nakchu.This suggests that Enhanced vigilance and strengthened pre-vention measures are warranted,particularly during the activity periods of peak tick.Implementation of tick control and deworming is crucial to provide scientific guidance for effective piroplasmosis management in local yak herds.
