Abstract

In response to the ecological and climatic characteristics of the Huanghuai wheat-growing ar-ea and the demand for new varieties in wheat(Triticum aestivum l.)production and mass consump-tion,a hybrid combination was formulated by combining conventional breeding,mutagesis breeding and ecological breeding techniques.The superior parent Yan5072 was used as the female parent and Shi94-5300 as the male parent.The selection of the offspring adopted a strategy of alternating water and dry selection,multi-point identification,and simultaneous experimentation and demonstration.A new high-yield wheat variety,Yannong1212,had been cultivated,which was approved in the central and southern parts of Shandong and Hebei,the central and northern parts of Hebei,the northern and southern parts of the Huanghuai River Basin,and was filed for introduction in Tianjin and Shanxi.It pioneered the Yannong1212 promotion consortium covering seven provinces and one municipality in-cluding Shandong,Anhui,Hebei,Shanxi,Henan,Jiangsu,Shaanxi and Tianjin.Joint efforts were exerted in aspects such as seed breeding,base construction,technical services,rights protection and publicity,achieving'regional linkage,complementary advantages and integration of production and sales',and had cumulatively promoted nearly 2 million hectares.
