Effect of Methylprednisolone Combined with Azithromycin on Immune Function and Serum Levels of Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-4,Soluble Suppression of Tumorigenicity 2,and Lactate Dehydrogenase in Children with Severe Mycoplasma Pneumonia

Abstract
Objective:To observe the effects of methylprednisolone combined with azithromycin on immune function and serum levels of monocyte chemoattractant protein-4(MCP-4),soluble suppression of tumorigenicity 2(sST2),and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)in children with severe mycoplasma pneumonia.Methods:A total of 92 children with severe mycoplasma pneumonia admitted to a hospital from October 2021 to January 2024 were enrolled and randomized into the control group(n=46,azithromycin alone)and the observation group(n=46,methylprednisolone+azithromyc in).Immune function(CD4+,CD8+,CD4+/CD8+),serum levels of inflammatory indicators[MCP-4,sST2,Toll-like receptor 7(TLR7),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)],cardiac enzyme profiles[LDH,creatine kinase-MB(CK-MB)],and pulmonary function[maximal mid-expiratory flow(MMEF),forced vital capacity percentage of predicted value(FVC%),forced expiratory volume in 1 second percentage of predicted value(FEV1%)]were compared between the two groups.Clinical efficacy and adverse reactions were also evaluated.Results:After treatment,CD4+,CD4+/CD8+,MMEF,FVC%,and FEV1%increased significantly in both groups,with higher levels in the observation group(P<0.05).CD8+,MCP-4,sST2,TLR7,TNF-α,LDH,and CK-MB decreased significantly in both groups,with lower levels in the observation group(P<0.05).The total effective rate was higher in the observation group(91.30%)than in the control group(76.09%,P<0.05).No significant difference in adverse reaction rates was observed(P>0.05).Conclusion:Methylprednisolone combined with azithromycin improves clinical efficacy in children with severe mycoplasma pneumonia,reduces serum MCP-4 and sST2 levels,and ameliorates cardiac enzyme profiles and pulmonary function.关键词
