The Belt and Road Initiative,financial cooperation and innovation dependence

Abstract
Based on Sampson(2023)study,this paper measures the innovation dependence level of each economy from the perspective of trade network to analyze the current situation of technology gap.The multi-point difference-in-difference model is used to demonstrate that the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)has produced positive policy effects on narrowing the technological gap and optimizing the performance of national innovation dependence.Mechanism analysis shows that,in addition to technology spillovers realized by increasing investment in ICT-based infrastructure,financial cooperation advocated by"financing"is an important support for trade-driven technology convergence.The BRI provides financial support for the localization of investment in co-construction countries through diversified financial cooperation effects,laying the foundation for the formation of production capacity of member countries and promoting the continuous expansion of exports.Through the expansion of the co-construction of national trade networks,technical exchanges and cooperation have been strengthened,and the continuous optimization of innovation dependence performance has been realized.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the Middle East and North Africa and middle-and high-income economies are the leading demonstration areas for the BRI to exert policy effects.This paper provides evidence to support the efficient implementation of the BRI and its important role in achieving new types of trade liberalization and global convergence of technologies.关键词
