Research Progress on Process Control and Optimization in Directed Energy Deposition-Arc

Abstract
Arc based Directed Energy Deposition(DED-Arc),an efficient and cost-effective metal additive manufacturing(AM)technology,holds immense potential for broad applications across aerospace,automotive,energy,and other industries.However,its practical deployment remains hindered by challenges such as thermal stress-induced distortions,internal defects,poor surface finish,and inadequate dimensional accuracy.This review synthesizes the current state of research on form control in DED-Arc,with a particular focus on three pivotal aspects:process parameter optimization,path planning strategies,and the integration of auxiliary energy fields.It delves into how parameter optimization influences the geometric precision,surface roughness,and microstructural evolution of deposited components.The review further consolidates path planning strategies aimed at refining heat input distribution and mitigating defects arising from localized overheating or rapid cooling.Additionally,it examines methodologies for applying auxiliary energy fields to modulate molten pool dynamics,improve thermal homogeneity,and suppress defect formation.Finally,this paper encapsulates the key achievements and existing gaps in contemporary research on form control for DED-Arc and offers insights into prospective research trajectories.关键词
