Abstract

During the video collection process in coal mines,uneven lighting often leads to issues such as insufficient brightness,overexposure,loss of details,and low contrast in monitoring images.To address these problems,an image enhancement algorithm based on Lab color space for complex light in coal mine is proposed in the present study,taking detail enhancement and brightness correction into account when enhancing images.In terms of detail enhancement,principal component analysis is used for denoising and feature extraction to obtain a detail-enhanced image after converting the original image into a grayscale image.For brightness correction,a sharpening-smoothing filter and contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization are applied to perform the multi-scale decomposition and correction of the brightness space in Lab color space,to obtain corrected brightness components.Subsequently,the detail-enhanced image is fused with the corrected brightness space to generate a brightness-enhanced image in the Lab color space.Finally,the Lab color space images are converted to RGB images by inverse transformation.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms comparative algorithms in handling coal mine images under different lighting conditions.In terms of evaluation indicators such as IE,SD,NIQE,SSIM and PSNR,the comparison algorithm significantly improves;compared with the input image,the average improvement of IE,SD,SSIM and PSNR of the proposed algorithm is 11.31%,22.39%,45.44%,and 47.85%,respectively,with a NIQE decrease of 23.86%at the same time.
