Detection and ecological risk evaluation of heavy metal pollution in apple orchard soils of the First Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps

Abstract
To explore the heavy metal pollution and ecological status in apple orchards of the First Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps,and to promptly understand and protect soil quality safety,this study investigated 54 apple orchard soils from the First Division through the detection of heavy metal elements(Cu,Ni,Pb,Zn,Cr)and ecological risk assessment,the characteristics of soil heavy metal pollution in the regional by were revealed.The mean values of the five heavy metal elements in the soil of the study area followed the order:Zn>Cr>Cu>Ni>Pb,with the average contents of 66.72 mg·kg-1,42.62 mg·kg-1,23.73 mg·kg-1,16.53 mg·kg-1,and 14.90 mg·kg-1,respectively.All measured mean values of each element were below the soil element thresholds of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,though the means of Cu,Zn and Pb approached threshold levels.The risk assessment of heavy metal elements in the First Division's apple orchard was conducted by applying the geo-accumulation index method,single factor pollution index method,comprehensive pollution index method,pollution load index method,and potential ecological risk index method.Results indicated low comprehensive pollution risks across different land types in the study area,with all sampled soils classified as"safe"pollution levels,reflecting overall,good soil environmental quality.This study provide foundational data for the prevention and control of soil heavy metal pollution in regional orchards and subsequent research.关键词
