Abstract

For wind power systems with a high proportion of low-inertia sources,virtual inertia control can be implemented to emulate the inertia response of synchronous generators to facilitate their participation in system frequency regulation.However,conventional virtual inertia control strategies often fail to account for both the actual frequency regulation capability of wind turbines and the system's inertia demand.This oversight can lead to frequency overshoots or power saturation,compromising system frequency stability.To address this issue,this paper proposes a dynamic inertia control strategy for wind turbines that considers both their frequency support capability and the system's real-time inertia requirements.The proposed strategy consists of two key components:a frequency regulation demand parameter and a support capability parameter.These parameters are adaptively adjusted using a weight distribution coefficient based on a Sigmoid function.When the system frequency exhibits a high rate of change,the wind turbine provides maximum inertia support.Conversely,under minor frequency fluctuations,the turbine delivers regulated power to prevent excessive depletion of rotor kinetic energy.The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is validated through simulations of a high-penetration wind power grid.The results demonstrate improved frequency stability and enhanced system security.
