Application effect of outcome-based education combined with clinical practice guideline in clinical pharmacotherapy

Abstract

Objective To explore the application effect of outcome-based education(OBE)combined with clinical practice guideline(CPG)focusing on basic case analysis in the teaching model of clinical pharmacotherapy,with the aim of improving the basic mastery and practical ability of clinical pharmacy students.Methods A total of 81 students majoring in Clinical Pharmacy at Shandong Second Medical University from September 2021 to June 2023 were selected as the research subjects and they were divided into two groups according to the teaching time.A total of 40 students of the 2018 grade(from Septem-ber 2021 to June 2022)were the control group,and the traditional case-based learning(CBL)was adopted.A total of 41 students from the 2019 grade(September 2022 to June 2023)were selected as the experimental group.The teaching method of OBE+CBL+CPG was adopted to compare the satisfaction of the two groups with the teaching method,their mastery of basic knowledge,clinical thinking ability,problem identification ability,problem-solving ability,and the writing of medical records.Results The satisfaction score of the students in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the scores of ba-sic knowledge mastery,problem identification and problem-solving abilities between the two groups(P>0.05).The scores of the experimental group in clinical thinking ability and medical record writing were higher than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The teaching mode oriented by OBE and combined with CPG,which focuses on basic case analysis,has improved the learning effect of clinical pharmacotherapy,enhanced the corresponding clinical thinking ability and clinical pharmacy practice ability,and laid a foundation for cultivating qualified clinical pharmacists.
