On the Ekphrasis in A.S.Byatt's Still Life
摘要
Abstract
The ekphrasis,in A.S.Byatt's novel,Still Life,not only enhances the aesthetic effect of the text but also,based on the reference to audiovisual language in film and television,triggers a competition between"language"and"image"within the text to achieve deep-level semantic differentiation,greatly expanding the range of literary text expression.Still Life delves into the issue of"gaze,"often explored in the field of visual culture studies,from the perspective of literary creation,elucidating the"Medusa effect"in the theory of ekphrasis.The novel endeavors to constantly juxtapose itself with still life painting as an artistic subject,exploring the dialectical themes of androgyny and life-death through the means of ekphrasis,which increases the density of the text.关键词
