Reproductive System Structure and Ovarian Development of Female Adult of Eocanthecona furcellata

Abstract
The predatory stink bug Eocanthecona furcellata can effectively suppress the population growth and damage of various Lepidoptera pests.As an efficient predatory natural enemy insect,it plays an important role in agricultural and forestry pest control.The reproductive biology characteristics of E.furcellata,i.e.,the female internal reproductive system structure and ovarian development process,was systematically investigated in this study through combined anatomical morphology comparison and microscopic observation.The internal reproductive system of female adult E.furcellata includes a pair of ovaries,lateral fallopian tubes,middle fallopian tubes,reproductive cavity,seminal vesicles,and accessory glands.The specific structure of each ovary containing 7 ovarian tubes in the female adult of the stink bug reveals its significant ability in reproduction.The unique configuration of this reproductive organ provides a physiological basis for maintaining population size in natural environments,and also provides a key biological basis for evaluating its application value in biological control strategies.Through the establishment of grading standards for ovarian development stages,it is clear that the stink bug develops to stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ ovaries on the 2nd and 3rd day after eclosion,when mature eggs can be conceived in the ovaries.Starting from the 7th day,egg laying starts,egg development peaks on the 15th day,and then gradually declines.This study not only enhances the understanding of the reproductive physiology of E.furcellata,but also provides reference for the study of its physiological adaptation mechanism.Based on the ovarian structure and egg development level,the reproductive behavior and ability of E.furcellata can be regulated,laying a theoretical foundation for improving its mass rearing technology and achieving inundative applications in pest control.关键词
