Xu Zhenwen's experience in treatment of lumbar disc herniation based on the three-step and one-method approach in Tendon-Bone Theory

Abstract
Professor Xu Zhenwen believes that the occurrence of lumbar disc herniation(LDH)can be divided into four pathological mechanisms based on the four elements of"tendon,bone,joint,and marrow"in Tendon-Bone Theory,namely"tendon stagnation,bone misalignment,joint displacement,and marrow injury."Common clinical manifestations include pain,sensory abnormalities,and functional impairment.In terms of treatment,a conservative treatment system is formed with targeted"three-step"treatment,namely extravertebral canal treatment,and"one-method",namely intravertebral canal treatment.It has the characteristics of combining Chinese and Western medicine,and treating both manifestation and root cause of disease,aiming to relieve the cause,restore spinal balance,and reconstruct a benign cycle,thereby achieving the treatment goal of relieving clinical symptoms of LDH and promoting the return of herniated lumbar discs.Xu Zhenwen's flexible single or combined use of the"three-step and one-method"in clinical practice has shown good therapeutic effects.关键词
