Abstract

Miniature buckling-restrained brace(MBRB)can serve as energy dissipation device for precast joints and scaled structural models in shaking table tests.This study proposes a novel multipoint-restraining MBRB(MRMBRB)featuring good buckling-restraining performance,simple structure,easy fabrication,and controllable cost.Four specimens were designed,manufactured,and tested under cyclic loading to evaluate their mechanical properties.A refined numerical simulation method for MRMBRB was proposed and vali-dated,and applied to conduct parametric analysis.The results indicate that MRMBRB can effectively limit cores buckling,achieving the lateral deformation of only 1 mm.The pitch and wire diameter of the springs are key design parameters affecting the buckling restraint effect.The proposed numerical simulation method dem-onstrates good agreement with the experimental results,validating the accuracy of the numerical model in simulating the hysteretic characteristics,bearing capacity and deformation mode of MRMBRB.The spring pitch exhibits an inverse relationship with the effectiveness of multipoint-restraining springs in controlling the buckling behavior of the cores.
