Effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine Prescriptions on the Egg Quality,Immunity and Gut Microbiota of Laying Hens Under Heat Stress

Abstract
This experiment aims to explore the effects of Traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions on egg quality,immune performance,and gut microbiome in heat-stressed laying hens.A total of 90 52-week-old Hy-Line brown laying hens were randomly divided into three groups:the control group(C),the heat stress group(HS),and the traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions treatment group(HS+TCM).At the end of the experiment,blood,liver,and intestinal tissues were collected to test egg quality,heat stress indica-tors,immune indicators,and gut microbiome 16S rRNA.The results showed:(1)The albumen height,egg weight,Haugh units and eggshell strength in the HS+TCM group were significantly higher than those in the HS group(P＜0.05),but there were no significant differences compared to the C group(P＞0.05);(2)Compared with the HS group,the expression levels of heat shock factor 1(HSF1),heat shock factor 3(HSF3),and heat shock protein 70(HSP70)in the liver of the HS+TCM group were significantly re-duced(P＜0.05,P＜0.01,P＜0.01),and there were no significant differences compared to the C group(P＞0.05);(3)Compared with the HS group,the levels of immunoglobulin M(IgM)in the serum and in-terferon gamma(IFN-γ)in the liver of the HS+TCM group were significantly reduced(P＜0.05,P＜0.01),but there were no significant differences compared to the C group(P＞0.05);(4)In the cecum,the HS+TCM prescriptions formula significantly increased the richness and diversity of the gut microbiota(P＜0.05),reduced the abundance of Bacteroidaceae,and increased the abundance of Marinifilaceae.In summary,the HS+TCM prescriptions can improve the egg quality and immune performance of heat-stressed laying hens and regulate the structure and diversity of the chicken gut microbiome.关键词
