Abstract

Low-frequency oscillations may occur in the output active power of the grid-forming converters,whilst the traditional control strategies for suppressing power oscillation introduce additional steady-state deviations of the output active power,or require reliance on an additional detection unit to obtain the angular frequency of the grid voltage.Moreover,when the grid impedance changes,there is also the risk of power oscillations if inappropriate control parameters are used.In response to the above issues,this paper proposes an active power oscillation suppression control strategy based on q-axis virtual power construction.Firstly,the circuit analysis leads to the conclusion that the q-axis component of the voltage at the point of common coupling(PCC)contains information about the difference between the converter's output angular frequency and the grid voltage's angular frequency.Based on the conclusion,a virtual power is constructed using the q-axis voltage.A filter is introduced to filter out the influence of high-frequency components on the system.Meanwhile,it is pointed out that the constructed power can be equivalent to the output of the quasi-resonant controller with the input as the q-axis voltage.Based on the complex torque coefficient method,the mechanism of the proposed strategy to suppress power oscillations is analyzed.Furthermore,through establishing small-signal models,it shows that the proposed strategy does not change the active power-frequency steady-state droop characteristic of the converter,and the design method for key control parameters is given.Finally,the simulation and experimental results obtained from the PSCAD/EMTDC and hardware-in-the-loop(HIL)platform verify the advantages of the proposed control strategy.
