Abstract
River and lake health assessment is an important tool for evaluating the effectiveness of river and lake protection and management.It plays a key role in the comprehensive implementation of the River Chief and Lake Chief systems,transitioning from"having names and responsibilities"to"achieving tangible results."The assessment also serves as a decision-making basis for river and lake chiefs in carrying out governance and protection work.In Kunming City,the river and lake health evaluation index system has been optimized by summarizing practical experiences and addressing existing issues in the current evaluations of rivers,lakes,reservoirs,and channels.The improved evaluation methods were applied to the Bajiang River in Shilin County as a case study.After optimization,the health status of the Bajiang River was adjusted from"unhealthy"to"sub-healthy,"with indicators such as"ecological flow/water level satisfaction"and social service functions better reflecting the actual conditions of the river.The evaluation results are relatively reasonable.关键词
