Current Status and Development Direction of Downhole Electric Heating Technologies in Heavy Oil Reservoirs

Abstract
Heavy oil reservoirs are developed by thermal recovery methods such as steam huff and puff,steam flooding and steam assisted gravity drainage(SAGD).Green and low-carbon development technologies are urgently needed to solve the prominent problems,such as high energy consumption,carbon emission amplification,low steam injection thermal efficiency,uneven reservoir utilization,difficult treatment of tail gas from fire flooding,and limited applicability of oil reservoirs.The electric heating extraction method for heavy oil reservoirs reduces crude oil viscosity by converting electrical energy into thermal energy,which has the advantages of high heating efficiency,low carbon,low energy consumption,and less water,providing a new direction for heavy oil development.Current status and field application examples of electric heating technology are discussed for improving oil recovery in heavy oil reservoirs at home and abroad,and the development mechanisms,process characteristics,and application effects of three methods are analyzed,such as resistance heating,electromagnetic heating,and electrode heating.Research has shown that electric heating technology is suitable for various development modes and has potential in assisting SAGD,replacing steam development,and other scenarios.However,it is still in the small-scale experimental stage,with limited heating range,equipment reliability to be improved,and economic feasibility to be verified.Based on the domestic demand for heavy oil development,application suggestions and technological development directions have been proposed.关键词
