Abstract

In order to solve the problem of the low oil steam ratio and the difficulties in the efficient development of the heavy oil with the steam injection in Xinjiang Oilfield,it is urgent to carry out research on the green,low-carbon,and high thermal efficiency radio frequency(RF)heating technology.The heating characteristics of the heavy oil cores under the specific frequency conditions were investigated through the physical modeling,and the effects of the frequency and the temperature on the electrothermal properties of the heavy oil cores were systematically analyzed.The research results indicate that the radio frequency heating can effectively elevate the temperature of heavy oil cores,with a maximum recorded temperature of 200℃observed within the frequency range of 900~930 MHz.Furthermore,the relative dielectric constant of the core gradually decreases with increasing frequency,while the core conductivity rises with the elevated temperatures.And the thermal diffusivity decreases as the temperature increases.The heavy oil core of Xinjiang Oilfield has a strong absorption ability for the electromagnetic energy,indicating that using radio frequency heating technology to increase the temperature of the heavy oil is feasible.The research provides a scientific basis for assessing the feasibility of the radio frequency heating process.
