Abstract

For reservoirs primarily tasked with water supply and irrigation,scientific drought management during dry years is crucial to ensure the ecological health of downstream rivers and the efficient use of water resources.The drought alert water level serves as a key reference for issuing drought warnings and initiating drought response mechanisms.Taking Dongwushi Reservoir,a large reservoir in Handan City,as an example,the drought alert water level was determined in three stages using two methods:the maximum value method and the comprehensive method.Factors such as inflow patterns,engineering management needs,regional characteristics,and water shortages caused by imbalances in water supply and demand were comprehensively considered.The results were validated,and the drought alert water levels for different periods were finalized.The findings provide scientific bases for Handan City's relevant departments to carry out drought emergency responses and contingency planning.
