Gas accumulation conditions and exploration potential of Xujiahe formation in Zitong Depression,western Sichuan

Abstract

Recently,significant breakthroughs have been made in the Xujiahe Formation of the Zitong De-pression for wells Y1 and T1.In order to accelerate the pace of oil and gas exploration in the Xujiahe For-mation of the Zitong Depression,this article systematically summarizes the natural gas reservoir conditions in the area and comprehensively analyzes the next exploration direction of the Xujiahe Formation in the Zitong Depression.The research shows that:①The Xujiahe Formation in Zitong Sag mainly develops two reservoir-forming combinations:lower source and upper reservoir,lower source and upper reservoir+self-gener-ation and self-storage.② The gas reservoirs in the second member of Xujiahe Formation mainly develop near-source structural-lithologic gas reservoirs and lithologic gas reservoirs.The lower sub-member is dominated by the vertical hydrocarbon supply of Ma'antang-Xiaotangzi Formation source rocks.The upper sub-member has both the vertical hydrocarbon supply of Ma'antang-Xiaotangzi Formation source rocks and the vertical hydrocarbon supply of some source rocks in the second member of Xujiahe Formation.The gas reservoirs in the third member of Xujiahe Formation in Zitong Sag mainly develop near-source or intra-source lithologic gas reservoirs.The hydrocarbon is mainly supplied by the source rocks of the third mem-ber of Xujiahe Formation,and the hydrocarbon is mainly supplied by vertical or lateral migration through sand bodies or fractures.③ The upper sub-member of the second member of Xujiahe Formation and the upper sub-member of the third member of Xujiahe Formation in Zitong Sag are the key oil and gas explora-tion directions for the next step.
