Abstract

The key to developing ultra-low permeability gas reservoirs lies in the characterization of sweet spots,as this directly guides well trajectory design and ultimately enables the efficient development of gas fields.Taking the H3a Formation of Z Gas Field as a case study,its sweet spots are characterized by small thickness,which complicates seismic prediction and poses challenges to trajectory design.To enhance pro-ductivity,improving the sweet spot hit rate during drilling is essential.To this end,trajectory optimization design is implemented using an integrated geology-modeling-engineering approach,with full utilization of well and seismic data.Starting from the genetic mechanisms and distribution patterns of sweet spots,the horizontal and vertical development zones of sweet spots are first identified.On this basis,geological model-ing combined with well-seismic integration is employed to conduct multi-scale fine characterization of the 3D spatial distribution of sweet spots in the target area,providing direct guidance for trajectory optimization.Finally,leveraging the sweet spot prediction results from the model,an innovative"candy-string"type multi-lateral undulating well is designed.This well type first drills deeply to expose vertical sweet spot in-tervals,followed by an undulating trajectory,enhancing the sweet spot hit rate.Application of this geolog-ical-modeling-engineering integrated high-efficiency well trajectory optimization technology successfully guided the real-time drilling trajectory optimization of Well A3M.The actual drilled length of sweet spots was twice the geological design,and the daily natural gas production reached three times the designed vol-ume,greatly improving single-well productivity.The proposed sweet spot research method and trajectory optimization strategy hold broad promotional value for trajectory optimization in other oil and gas fields.
