Abstract

To study the accuracy of discharge calculation by the fall index method in mountain stream channels,the measured flow data from 2020 to 2024 at Xin'an Hydrological Station are used for the analysis of rating curve establishment and discharge calculation via the fall index method.The study found that when the water level and river reach drop meet certain conditions,the accuracy of rating curve establishment and discharge calculation by the fall index method meets the requirements for Class I accuracy stations specified in the hydrological data compilation standards.Additionally,the measured data from 2019 were used to verify the discharge calculation accuracy of the current rating curve.The results show that the comprehensive discharge calculation curve of the fall index method established using historical data has high accuracy and stability.The analysis of discharge calculation by the fall index method at Xin'an Station also provides a safe and convenient solution for realizing online monitoring of high flood discharge at hydrological stations in mountain stream channels.
