Overview and Quality Evaluation of Endometriosis Guidelines and Consensus

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to explore the methodology and reporting quality of guidelines and consensus related to endometriosis worldwide,in order to provide reference for the development of guidelines/knowledge on endometriosis.Methods A comprehensive search was conducted across eight Chinese and English databases(including CNKI and PubMed),guideline reposito-ries,and guideline-related websites from their inception to December 15,2023.Two researchers independently screened the retrieved records according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria to identify eligible guidelines and consensus documents.Basic informa-tion was extracted,and the quality of the included documents was evaluated using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and EvaluationⅡ(AGREE II)and Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare(RIGHT)tools.Subgroup analyses were performed based on develop-ment methods,document types,and regions of publication.Bubble plots were generated to visualize the overall quality based on the evaluation results.Results A total of 23 guidelines and consensus documents were included.According to the AGREE II tool,2 docu-ments were rated as Grade A(strongly recommended),19 as Grade B(recommended with modifications),and 2 as Grade C(not rec-ommended).Based on the RIGHT tool,3 guidelines/consensus documents demonstrated good reporting quality,15 were moderate,and 5 were poor.Evidence-based guidelines and consensus documents scored significantly higher in the domains of Scope and Pur-pose,Stakeholder Involvement,Rigor of Development,and Applicability compared to those developed through expert consensus(P<0.05).Guidelines scored higher than consensus documents in the Stakeholder Involvement domain(P<0.05).Among the included documents,three guidelines exhibited the highest methodological and reporting quality.Conclusion The methodology and reporting quality of the currently released guidelines/consensus on endometriosis need to be further improved.It is recommended to refer to inter-national standards and consensus such as AGREE II and RIGHT to develop specialized standards in the future,develop higher quality guidelines and consensus,and promote their application.关键词
