The Effect of Class Marriage on Rural Human Capital

Abstract
In the critical period of demographic transition,improving marriage,parenthood and rural human capital are of strategic significance to break the demographic constraint and sup-port rural revitalisation and modernisation.This paper empirically tests the nonlinear human capital effect of rural class marriage using interprovincial panel data from 1985-2020.The empiri-cal evidence shows that mating competition generates human capital crowding-out effects through intergenerational resource reallocation,showing gradient differences between the high east and low west,and stage fluctuations with the process of economic development.The threshold regression model shows a double regulation mechanism,after breaking family education investment threshold,the extrusion effect of class marriage jumps significantly,and after crossing national education in-vestment threshold,class marriage will effectively alleviate the extrusion.The study confirms that public services,including education investment,are equalised between urban and rural areas,by correcting the mismatch of resources in marriage market and optimising the path of intergeneration-al accumulation of human capital.The study provides an institutional solution to rural revitalisation and a precise point of focus for policy intervention.关键词
