Abstract

The magnesium ammonium phosphate precipitation method can efficiently remove ammonia nitrogen from wastewater and convert it into valuable compound fertilizers.To explore the applicability of this method for treating wastewater with different concentrations of ammonia nitrogen,this study systematically analyzed the effects of initial ammonia nitrogen concentration(500~20 000 mg/L),pH value(7~11),n(N)∶n(Mg)∶n(P)ratio,reaction time(5~50 min),settling time(5~50 min),and rota-tion speed(0~300 r/min)on the efficiency of ammonia nitrogen removal and the structure of the solid phase products.The research results indicate that when the n(N)∶n(Mg)∶n(P)ratio is 1∶1.2∶1,the magnesium ammonium phosphate precipitation method can convert 92.17%of the ammonia nitrogen(20 000 mg/L)in weakly alkaline(pH 9)water quality into magnesium ammonium phosphate precipitate within 20 minutes,and the process of ammonia nitrogen removal has a relatively high first-order kinetic rate constant(0.112 4~0.117 9 min-1).For the wastewater from the sodium bicarbonate process,the magnesium ammonium phosphate precipitation method can also convert 91.74%of the ammonia nitrogen(2 300 mg/L)in weakly alkaline(pH 9)water into magnesium ammonium phosphate,and it has a high economic benefit(8.20 yuan per ton of wastewater).
