Optimization of Water Reducing Agent Type for Full Tailings Filling Slurry of a Tungsten Mine in Jiangxi Province

Abstract
Four common types of water reducers—polycarboxylate(PCE),melamine-based,naphthalene-based,and calcium lignosulfonate—were initially selected.Experi-ments were conducted on the properties of full tailings filling slurry incorporating these dif-ferent water reducers at varying dosages.The influence patterns of each type of water re-ducer on the slurry's yield stress,plastic viscosity,bleeding rate,and the strength of the hardened backfill were investigated.The workability parameters of the filling slurry were comprehensively analyzed,and the optimal water reducer type and dosage were selected considering both performance and cost.The research indicates that:1)The addition of wa-ter reducers can decrease the yield stress and plastic viscosity of the full tailings filling slurry.2)An appropriate dosage of water reducer can significantly reduce the bleeding rate of the slurry,while a low dosage may instead increase it.3)The incorporation of wa-ter reducers reduces the early strength of the hardened backfill but has a relatively smaller impact on its medium-term strength;different types of water reducers affect early strength differently.4)Based on comprehensive comparison,the melamine-based water reducer at a dosage of 0.2%is the optimal choice.关键词
