Topic identification and evolution analysis of public attention on low-altitude economy using LDA model and Baidu index

Abstract
[Background]In recent years,propelled by accelerated policy support and continuous technological advancements,the low-altitude economy has developed rapidly as a strategic emerging industry while raising widespread concerns regarding its associated challenges in transportation man-agement,social impacts,and legal frameworks.The existing literature indicates that the extent of pub-lic attention and its core concerns are pivotal in advancing the social cognition,acceptance,and prac-tical implementation of low-altitude economy applications.[Objective]This study aims to support the safe,innovative,and sustainable development of a low-altitude economy in accordance with na-tional strategic initiatives aimed at constructing a modern,integrated transportation system and to fos-ter strategic emerging industries.[Methods]Using data from the Baidu index platform,we analyzed the dynamics of public interest using the keywords"low-altitude economy""electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft,"and"unmanned aerial vehicles"based on search volume and media coverage.Through the integrated application of latent Dirichlet allocation(LDA)modeling,we performed the matic extraction and a cluster visualization analysis of the core conceptual domains.[Data]Using the"low-altitude economy"as the target keyword,we crawled 12 129 relevant textual entries from Sina Weibo.The preprocessed microblog data were tokenized using the Jieba segmentation toolkit,thus es-tablishing a structured corpus for subsequent term-frequency analysis and thematic visualization.[Conclusions]Empirical evidence from the Baidu index platform shows that in 2024,both the search and news indices related to the"low-altitude economy"exhibited a steady increase compared with the previous year,thus reflecting an increasing level of public awareness and recognition toward this emerging economic paradigm.Ten core topics were identified using the LDA model,including indus-trial transformation,aerospace advancement,economic trends,and the development of artificial intel-ligence.These topics were further categorized and summarized from multiple perspectives.[Applica-tion]The findings offer valuable insights for government agencies and academic researchers to better understand public perceptions and attention toward the emergence of the low-altitude economy,there-by providing a theoretical foundation for investigating strategies for its sustainable development.关键词
