摘要
Abstract
Surfactants are an important class of compounds with a wide range of applications. However, the use of chemical-derived surfactants is subject to different levels of restriction due to their potential adverse impact on the ecosystem and the health of human and other living organisms. In the past few years, there has been a growing concern towards natural-derived alternatives, particularly microbial surfactants, which are anticipated substitutes for synthetic or chemical-based surfactants.Within the chemical structure of biosurfactants, lipids are combined with carbohydrates(i.e.,glycolipoproteins and glycolipids),peptides(i.e.,lipopeptides),and phosphates(i.e.,phospholipids).Among them, lipopeptides have been extensively studied owing to their versatile properties, including emulsifying, antimicrobial, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory properties. In this review,an update on research progress in the classification of biosurfactants has been provided.Various bacterial biosurfactants and their functionalities are summarized, along with their advantages over synthetic surfactants. Finally, the potential applications of these biosurfactants in many industrial fields are discussed and the future research directions are pointed out.关键词
