Abstract

To explore the application differences between baits(RB,ready for use)and dustable powders(DP)in the prevention and control of Solenopsis invicta during the first comprehensive prevention and control period in autumn,field experiments using a long-term dynamic monitoring research method were conducted to evaluate the application differences of four pesticides in terms of control effect,onset time,and product persistence on active nests and worker ants of Solenopsis invicta in autumn.The results showed that 0.6%beta-cypermethrin DP reached the peak control effect after 7 days of application.The control effects on active nests and worker ants were 96.89%and 99.20%,respectively.However,the control effect rapidly declined over time.The other three RB formulations exhibited a similar trend:efficacy increased initially and then declined.In term of overall control effects,the ranking was:0.1%indoxacarb RB>0.1%metaflumizone RB>0.015%spinosad RB.All three reached the peak effect after 28 days of application.In conclusion,RB formulations are more suitable for large-scale or severe infestations of Solenopsis invicta.DP formulations are suitable for emergency eradication.
