Research progress on the function of GABAergic neurons in lateral hypothalamus
摘要
Abstract
The lateral hypothalamic area(LHA)is a structurally and functionally heterogeneous central regulatory hub.Recent advancements in neurotechnological tools,particularly the application of optogenetic manipulation and trans-synaptic neural circuit tracing techniques,have enabled researchers to progressively decipher the key mechanisms of how the LHA regulates diverse physiological processes via cell type-specific neural circuits.Among its neuronal subpopulations,GABAergic neurons in the LHA serve as core inhibitory regulatory units,critically implicated in maintaining dynamic critically implicated in feeding,maintaining by namic equilibrium of energy metabolism,orchestrating circadian modulation of sleep-wake cycles,and integrating emotional-motivational behaviors.Dysfunction of GABAergic neuronal populations in the LHA has been confirmed as a critical contributor to the pathogenesis and progression of multiple disorders,including obesity,sleep disorders,depression,and drug addiction.This review synthesized cutting-edge discoveries in the field,providing an in-depth exploration of the functional architecture of LHA GABAergic neurons and their circuit-based mechanisms,while offering novel perspectives for mechanistic research and therapeutic target identification in related neuropsychiatric disorders.关键词
