Abstract

The Yageliemu formation in the northern Tarim basin was found unevenly distributed on the Early Cretaceous uplift-depression alternating pattern with limited thickness,but the distribution range and sedimentary characteristics are still unclear.This study conducted detailed observations and analyses with data from drilling,core samples,field outcrops,and laboratory tests.The results indicate that the Yageliemu formation in the northern Tarim basin is mainly distributed in the Kuqa depression and sporadically around the Tabei uplift,and its three major source areas were identified as the South Tianshan Mountains,Tabei uplift,and Wensu uplift.Alluvial fan to fan delta/braided river delta to lacustrine sedimentary facies types were recognized in Yageliemu formation,the alluvial fan to fan delta/braided river delta sedimentary facies developed at the basin margins,and fan delta/braided river delta front to lacustrine sedimentary facies developed in relatively low-lying areas of the basin.The depositional model of the Yageliemu formation was summarized as a rapid accumulation of sandy sedimentary systems under the uplift-depression alternating pattern.The clarified distribution range and sedimentary facies characteristics of the Yageliemu formation provides an important basis for the next sandstone type uranium deposits exploration.
