The application of neutron lifetime logging the exploration of sandstone-type uranium deposits at the southwestern margin of Ordos basin

Abstract
In recent years,significant breakthroughs have been made in the exploration of sandstone-type uranium deposits in Cretaceous Huanhe formation at the southwestern margin of Ordos basin.Due to the special sedimentary environment of Cretaceous Huanhe formation in the study area,impermeable rocks are filled with non-conductive minerals such as gypsum and carbonates,making it difficult for conventional logging curves to accurately distinguish permeable and impermeable rocks.Neutron lifetime logging is widely used in oil and gas exploration and development to determine water saturation.In order to accurately distinguish permeable sandstone and impermeable mudstone or siltstone,core samples from the study area were tested for permeability and porosity,and groundwater characteristics of the ore-bearing target layer were investigated.Based on understanding of neutron lifetime logging principle,neutron lifetime logging tests were conducted for the first time in the study area.The neutron lifetime distribution characteristics of different rocks were statistically analyzed.Through borehole verification,it was found that the neutron lifetime of permeable sandstone was significantly higher than that of impermeable rocks.The neutron lifetime logging curve can effectively distinguish the permeable and impermeable rocks in the Cretaceous Huanhe formation of the study area,which provides significant reference for the geophysical logging of sandstone-type uranium deposits.关键词
